Aetna Coverage Guidelines
Your Aetna health insurance may cover more than just a breast pump. From replacement parts to professional breastfeeding support, many moms are surprised to learn just how much is included. Below are some of the most common breastfeeding-related benefits available through Aetna. Keep in mind that coverage can vary depending on your individual plan.

Breast Pumps
Most Aetna plans cover one manual or double electric breast pump for each pregnancy. Choose from trusted brands like Momcozy, Eufy, Spectra, Elvie and more. Many models are fully covered, and wearable or premium models are available for a small out-of-pocket cost.
Coverage Frequency: 1 per pregnancy
Note: Upgrades (like wearable pumps) may require partial payment.

Replacement Parts
Aetna may also help cover the cost of breast pump replacement parts like valves, tubing, membranes, and flanges. These parts need to be replaced regularly to ensure proper function and cleanliness. Depending on your plan, some items may be fully covered, while others may require a small out-of-pocket fee.
Coverage Frequency: Varies by plan; typically 4 shipments per year
Note: Some plans may partially cover or offer discounted kits.

Breast Milk Storage Bags
Many Aetna plans include breast milk storage bags to support safe and hygienic milk storage. These are perfect for moms returning to work or those building up a freezer stash.
Coverage Frequency: Up to 100 bags per month
Note: Quantity limits may apply based on plan guidelines.

Lactation Consultations
Breastfeeding isn't always easy, but you don't have to do it alone. Aetna typically covers up to six visits with a certified lactation consultant, either in person or via telehealth. This benefit helps moms navigate latching issues, milk supply concerns, and more.
Coverage Frequency: Up to 6 visits per pregnancy

Christine Vargas

So easy to work with. After I submitted my info, 1 Natural Way did the rest. I didn’t have to worry about contacting my insurance or doctor’s office, they handled it and sent me emails with updates at each step. Highly recommend when you have so many things to think about and don’t know where to start with ordering your pump!

Carolyn Fess

Finally got around to ordering a new breast pump before returning to work with less than a week before my first day back. Ordered it on Sunday and had it delivered by Thursday! They took care of insurance and even got the prescription from my doctor's office in that time. I'm still so impressed!

Danielle Hanley

Super grateful for 1 Natural Way in helping me to navigate the insurance process for obtaining a new breast pump! So much easier experience than what I had to do years ago with my first baby. Highly recommend!
Frequently Asked Questions: Aetna Breast Pump Coverage and 1 Natural Way
Do I qualify for a free breast pump through Aetna?
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) made it a requirement for insurance plans to cover the cost of a breast pump; it is usually covered as a women's preventative benefit. That said, different insurance plans can have very different guidelines and coverage and some “grandfathered plans” do not have to meet ACA requirements. What breast pumps does Aetna cover? Can I get any pump I want?
With 1 Natural Way, you can choose from many pumps that are 100% covered (Spectra S2 Plus, Medela Pump In Style Pro and many more). You also have the option to choose from a number of upgrade models, for which Aetna would cover part of the cost and you would cover the rest (like the Elvie Pump, Eufy S1 Pro, Spectra S1 Plus and more).
Is 1 Natural Way an Aetna breast pump provider?
1 Natural Way partners with Medequip, a leading provider of women's specialty products, to offer breast pumps to Aetna moms.
What additional maternity benefits are available through my Aetna insurance?
In addition to a free breast pump through Aetna, some plans like Meritain Health, Allied and Coresouce (plus others), where Aetna is the plan administrator, may be eligible to receive breast pump replacement parts and accessories.
